20,000

Earlier today I had my 20,000th view! If you look under the tag ‘milestones’, you’ll notice that the 5,000 mark was passed this time a year ago. The upward trend is encouraging and will hopefully inspire me to continue improving the site with better, more useful, interesting entries.
One other thing – those who clicked on ‘Countries’ on the sidebar would have got broken links over the past couple of days. This is because wordpress made minor alterations to the linking of categories and tags again, without telling me. I’ve fixed this manually and it should all be working now.
Argh

WordPress is constantly making random changes – such as suddenly making tags appear underneath the title on the tarski theme. The very reason I chose the tarski theme was because of how neat it was compared with the cluttered feel of other themes (as crudely demonstrated above).
I feel as if I am continually having to creatively think of ways to make wordpress less annoying. In terms of this problem, I am removing non-essential tags (i.e. those which people are less likely to find me through) such as people’s names and trip years. I intend to include these on separate pages, in effect, creating my own elaborate (and time consuming) tagging system.
Changes will be coming fast – updates are likely very soon, and as hinted at above, I may be introducing new navigation pages and possibly other stuff.
Missing Links

It’ll not be visible to someone who just browses the first page, but over the past few days i’ve gone back through every entry and made the following updates:
1) Categories were temporarily lost. Had you clicked on one of the country links at the side in the past few days, you would have got only some of the intended results. Therefore I had to give each post a category (in the case of my blog, a country) all over again, and individually.
2) I added a few extra tags, including the trip name (if the entry was part of a trip). There will shortly be a page dedicated to the complete list of tags in an easily navigatable way.
3) Where entries were part of a wider trip, I have now included an option at the end of the entry to go to the next one via a link. I did this manually, so I expect there may be some mistakes. It also resulted in my hotmail inbox having over 100 comment moderation emails from wordpress for pingbacks.
4) I have justified all the writing, which seems neccessary with this new layout.
In the coming few days, I plan to finally update the site with new entries, add a few widgets to the sidebar, publish the tags page, and then start going back and writing proper descriptions for old entries.
